Our Story
We met each other purely by accident, a random pick of a League of Legends game in the summer of 2011. I played Ezreal top lane and she was a support Soraka in the bottom lane. During the game we were having more fun messaging than actually trying to win the game, so that’s when there was only one thing to do after the game, add her for some more games.
A lot of time went by and a lot of games were played, remaining just friends through all of it. Early 2013 we ended up spending more time with each other and got more in contact through Skype, that is when we first made plans to meet up.
My heart melted the first time we met, we were in love and my life would never be the same after.

The Day They Got Engaged
In August 2016, I was visiting Iwan both to see his gorgeous face again and to attend his brother, Michiel’s, wedding. It was the 3rd time we were able to see each other that year and we decided that we were definitely going to make the best of it. We planned a small break-away that included a stay on one of the northern islands in the Netherlands called Ameland.
Admittedly in hindsight everyone was being ridiculously suspicious. Right before leaving we received a mysterious gift from Iwan’s parents with a bottle of champagne and all day long Iwan was very on edge. I just put it down to everyone coming off of a high from Michiel’s wedding and Iwan still feeling some of the stress from his best man duties. Boy was I wrong!
We arrived in Ameland, dumped our overnight bag at the hotel and on the insistence of Iwan, rushed out to get to the beach before sunset. I however insisted on throwing a stick in his plans and wanted to explore all the little pathways we came across in the hopes of finding new Pokémon (this was the height of Pokémon GO after all). One of these little pathways took us to the top of an intimate viewpoint, surrounded by a beautiful 360° view of the island around us. We basked in the moment, taking in all the scenery, I turned to give him kiss only to have him take a few steps back and start reaching for his bag and getting down on one knee. The last thing I remember him saying was, “Well babe, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for…”. Iwan assures me he was very eloquent. After that it was just pure joy, bliss, excitement, and many tears of happiness.
On 3 August 2016 I said yes to the love of my life. On 30 April 2022, I cannot wait to say I do.
